The  Moblins in the maze takes too long.  This shortcut will get you to Forest Temple in a flash.

• Enter Sacred Forest Meadow area from the lost woods and walk toward the gate that leads into the maze
• On your left Navi flies up and turns green
• Play the Scarecrow song and a scarecrow appears
• Hook shot up onto the top walls of the maze and shortcut to Forest Temple
