What is it used for?

Pokemon Platinum - Metal Powder raises Ditto’s special defense by a whopping 200%.  If you own these Pokemon, you owe it to them to get Metal Powder and attach it to them!!

How do you get a Metal Powder?  You have to capture a Wild Ditto who is carrying one.
